CARES Partners with Pasco County School Board
CARES (Community Aging and Retirement Services, Inc.) has established a partnership with the Pasco County District School Board to offer caregiver information and referral and assessments to District School Board employees and retirees who need help with elder care issues. Pat Sovonick, CARES Community Outreach and Wellness Coordinator, provides assistance to active and retired school board employees who are caregivers as well as to retirees who need help themselves.
The School Board decided to enter into an agreement with CARES to do counseling and assessments when they became aware that many of their employees and retirees were caring for elderly family members or friends and needed guidance. This added benefit for school board employees and retirees recognizes the challenges faced by caregivers struggling to provide adequate care for a growing number of elderly individuals who need assistance.
