EQUIPMENT OR SERVICES
Contributions of supplies, equipment and services can help CARES continue its mission and its services.
REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY
Make a donation of your vehicle, art, collectibles, home or real estate.
If you own shares of stock, bonds or mutual funds, you can donate them to CARES. If they have appreciated in value, you can avoid capital gains tax.
With this gift, you are leaving part, or all, of your death benefit as a charitable gift to CARES. You can support CARES with a charitable beneficiary designation on a:
- Life insurance policy
- Deferred annuity
- IRA or other retirement plan (401-k or 403-b)
These gifts are very easy to arrange. Simply obtain a beneficiary designation form from the company or your agent. Fill out the form, showing what percentage should go to each beneficiary. Then sign the form and return it to the company.
PAYABLE ON DEATH ACCOUNTS
You can name CARES as the beneficiary on your bank accounts and investment accounts. This is called a payable-on-death account or a transfer-on-death account. This arrangement is easy to set up at your bank or investment company.
Arrange a gift for CARES in your will or living trust. This is referred to as a bequest. It is important to note that when you arrange a bequest for CARES, you have full access to your money as long as you live. Your gift goes to CARES only if you do not need the funds during your life.
You will need to visit a lawyer to have your will drafted or updated. The fee for this is quite affordable, and your lawyer will make sure you have all of the other documents you need, like a living will and a durable power of attorney.
Types of Bequests
- Donate a fixed amount of cash or a particular asset.
- Leave a portion of your estate with a percentage bequest.
- Use a residual bequest to donate whatever is left after you have taken care of your relatives.[/accordion]
