As a nationally recognized cardiologist and co-founder of the Heart Institute Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, I recognize the importance of CARES mission in our society. I believe in this mission and have been CARES’ top donor for 20 years. In order to support the services and programs they offer to our community, I will continue my pledge to work with CARES in fundraising efforts and as a loyal philanthropic contributor.

MARGOT HOGLIND As a widow, Margot became fond of going to CARES Elfers Center. At 85, she started attending the Light Exercise Class and made many friends along the way. She looked at CARES as her family and generously supported their programs; allowing many seniors to continue to receive vital services and enjoy the social aspect of gathering at CARES Enrichment Centers.
Margot was a blessing to our community through her generous contributions and philanthropic support of seniors. During her life, estate planning helped her live a legacy as well as leave a legacy. Her donations included annual gifts through charitable annuities as well as future plans for real estate and insurance bequests. With her passing in 2019, Margot fulfilled the dream she shared in life with her husband, Ivar Hoglind; the dream of helping others.
NANCY KALINOWSKI In the 12 years affiliated with CARES, Nancy would help wherever was needed and volunteered in many roles. In her last position, Nancy was a key volunteer for CARES Travel Club, Hudson office, which she loved and generously supported.
Nancy often spoke of the times she was a caregiver for her husband who passed in 1999. She said, "After that, my children were grown and I needed to find a purpose in my life. I ended up at CARES in Hudson and found my purpose. CARES understands us (widows); that we need a little extra pat on the shoulder, a little hug from someone; that's the emotional support, they're wonderful.” A generous cash bequest was gifted to CARES on her passing in 2018. Her legacy of caring was realized.
